In February, the History Center will feature new collection acquisitions related to local York County artisan Frank Auspitz.  Auspitz was a well- known expert on 18th century furniture and owner of Auspitz Cabinet shop.  Auspitz specialized in making period reproduction furniture, interior designs, and building construction.  The exhibit will include Auspitz furniture, drawings, and photographs recently acquired by the York County History Center.

The Travels of Lewis Miller

February - August

Located on the mezzanine of the Historical Society Museum and Library, the Lewis Miller gallery will display 16 new original Lewis Miller sketches focusing on Miller’s extensive travels both regionally and internationally in the mid-1800s.  Lewis “Loui” Miller (1796-1882) was born and lived most of his life in York, Pennsylvania. Though a carpenter by trade, he is remembered today as a folk artist. His sketches chronicle historical events, his travels in America and abroad, and the lives of ordinary people.  The History Center maintains a collection of more than 2,000 original Lewis Miller sketches.
