Opens February
In February, the History Center will feature new collection acquisitions related to local York County artisan Frank Auspitz. The exhibit will include Auspitz furniture, drawings, and photographs recently acquired by the York County History Center.
The Travels of Lewis Miller
February - August
Located on the mezzanine of the Historical Society Museum and Library, the Lewis Miller gallery will display 16 new original Lewis Miller sketches focusing on Miller’s extensive travels both regionally and internationally in the mid-1800s. Lewis “Loui” Miller (1796-1882) was born and lived most of his life in York, Pennsylvania. Though a carpenter by trade, he is remembered today as a folk artist. His sketches chronicle historical events, his travels in America and abroad, and the lives of ordinary people. The History Center maintains a collection of more than 2,000 original Lewis Miller sketches.
February 15, 2017 - July 31, 2017:
York County’s Communities
Beginning February 15, 2017, the History Center will host displays from various York County historical and cultural organizations. The temporary displays will feature on-loan objects and materials from local communities highlighting their history and culture. Local organizations will assist with the design and creation of the displays. The Exhibit will open with items from Historic Wrightsville and the Police Heritage Museum.
